在1月7日上午，西藏定日（སྟོད་དིང་རི）等周邊地區發生強烈地震，造成民房嚴重損毀，人畜財產遭受重大損失，消息令人痛心。此外，美國加州（ཀལླ་ཧྥོ་ནི་ཡ）發生大規模火災，致使許多人和動物喪生。為了使這些亡者能解脫中有的恐懼，獲得佛果，我在拉薩大昭寺（ལྷ་ས་གཙུག་ལག་ཁང）佛陀等身像前供燈千盞，並在印度舍衛城（མཉན་ཡོད）三乘寺（ཐེག་གསུམ་གཙུག་ལག་ཁང）安排千燈供養，持續為亡者迴向祈願。
同時，由菩提寺及所屬各單位，應廣泛進行祈願迴向，對遇難者及其親屬表達深切慰問，為傷者早日康復進行強力祈願。
近期在這些突發災難中，藏區各地僧俗同胞展現出同體大悲的精神，提供高度支援協助，對此我表示讚賞，並懇請繼續加強援助。

I am deeply saddened by the news that on the morning of January 7th, a powerful earthquake struck Tingri and many surrounding areas in Tibet, causing severe damage to many residential buildings and resulting in significant losses of human life, property, and livestock. Similarly, in the United States, a major fire in California has claimed many human and animal lives. To help free these deceased from the fears of the intermediate state (bardo) and attain the state of complete enlightenment, I have arranged for the offering of one thousand butter lamps before the Jowo statue at the Lhasa Jokhang Temple, and another thousand butter lamps at the Thegsum Monastery in Shravasti, India, while continuing to make dedication prayers.
Furthermore, I urge jangchub ling Monastery and all affiliated institutions to conduct extensive dedication prayers, express solidarity with the bereaved families and relatives, and make fervent prayers for the swift recovery of those injured.
During these sudden natural disasters and tragedies, I commend and appreciate the Tibetan communities from all three regions (upper, middle, and lower Tibet) who have shown deep sympathy and provided high-level support and assistance. I request that this support continue with renewed vigor.
