🌈A young heart, a compassionate and good teacher
Last night, it was a welcome dinner to welcome the guru.
I am grateful to the brothers for mercifully creating this special destiny and placing the child next to the guru. A thirteen-year-old boy, with the purest curiosity about life, kept asking his master for advice; and the guru always listened and guided each one with compassion and patience. A dinner thus becomes a conversation about life and truth.
The child sat next to the guru and chatted for a long time. Starting from “What is Buddhism?”, it talks about cause and effect, life, reincarnation, and suffering, as well as time, space, death, and enlightenment. Question after question, a young heart is full of curiosity about life; a compassionate good teacher responds to every doubt and guides every thinking with wisdom and patience.
As a bystander, what really touched me was the kindness and compassion shown by the master during the whole process. The child kept asking. Some questions are simple, and some are even childish: “Who created the world?” “Why do people suffer?” “If we avoid pain, will everything end?” “What is true enlightenment?” Faced with these questions, the guru listened carefully, followed instructions, and gave many examples from life to guide the children to think and experience on their own. At that moment, I suddenly understood that the most precious thing about a good teacher is not only his understanding of the Dharma, but also his willingness to stop and give his time, patience and compassion to everyone who sincerely seeks the Dharma. A truly good teacher not only answers doubts, but also protects a heart that seeks the Dharma. It turns out that Buddhism is not only found in scriptures, but also in a meal, a conversation, and unhurried company.
Perhaps today, he still cannot fully understand everything the guru said; perhaps there are some questions that he will continue to seek answers to in the future. However, I believe that because of this special Dharma fate, a seed of exploring the truth of life has been quietly planted in his heart.
Buddhism often says that causes and conditions are inconceivable; many life turning points often happen in just one thought. Perhaps many years later, when he once again faces the ups and downs, gains and losses, pain and choices in life, a certain sentence in tonight’s conversation will quietly emerge in his heart at a certain moment and become a light that illuminates him.
As a mother, watching this scene, I felt a sense of joy and relief that I had never felt before. Fortunately, at the age of thirteen, he was able to have such a rare and special opportunity to get close to his guru and talk about life and the truth with a good teacher.
I don’t know how much he can understand from today’s conversation; I don’t know where he will go in the future. But I know that the road to liberation can only be walked by himself. As a mother, all I can do is to try my best in his life to plant a seed for him to get close to good teachers and listen to the righteous Dharma. As for the future, whether this seed will take root, sprout, blossom and bear fruit is left to him and to fate.
And I only have deep gratitude in my heart…❤️

如果您也有故事希望與大家分享,歡迎發郵件至:khyentse.mandala@gmail.com
